Watch The Trailer For Animal Collective's ODDSAC Posted: 27 Jan 2010 09:56 AM PST Think Animal Collective's music was already trippy? You ain't seen nothing yet.
Behold ODDSAC, a 53-minute 'visual album' from Danny Perez that features all-new music from Animal Collective. The music suits the visuals - no traditional narrative, no traditional songs; rather, a collection of visual and aural sketches and moods. ODDSAC made its premiere yesterday at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT. If you're interested in ODDSAC, but not at Sundance, good news (if you can make it to NYC or Chicago): the film will be shown on March 2 at the Visual Arts Theatre in New York (tix here and here) and March 17 at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago (tix here and here). Perez and members of Animal Collective are scheduled to appear. If you're actually AT Sundance you can catch ODDSAC at the following screenings: ODDSAC screening schedule Sundance - Friday, January 29, 9:30pm Sundance - Saturday, January 30, 6:00pm And yes, more cities will be 'announced soon', possibly via ODDSAC's Twitter. Dave Matthews Band Hitting The Road This Summer Posted: 27 Jan 2010 08:17 AM PST Dude, the Dave Matthews Band may be coming to a town near you. Team DMB announced this week that the Dave Matthews Band will once again be spending the summer on the road. It will be the second summer outing for the band's Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King tour - that album was released in June of last year. The tour kicks off on Memorial Day weekend in Connecticut before heading out on an epic trek that will take the band to every corner of the USA. Highlights include a July 10 show at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, a two night, mid-July run at Citi Field in New York, a July 23 show at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Dave's got baseball fever! As for openers, it's pretty A-list: Zac Brown Band, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Govt. Mule, and Ben Harper & Relentless7 will all handle warm-up duties. Dates are below. More info can be found at DMB's site. For more photos, videos and artist info, head to our Dave Matthews page. Dave Matthews Band Summer 2010 -- Conrad Doucette Photo by Rebecca Taylor/MSG Photos |
Serj Tankian: New Solo Live Album Coming, System Of A Down Still On Hiatus Posted: 27 Jan 2010 07:08 AM PST Indefinite hiatus, that is. So, System fans, don't break out those old concert tees... yet.
System singer Tankian revealed the no-news-is-no-no-news news to Billboard. To backtrack, earlier this month, System Of A Down member Shavo Odadjian tweeted "Are u guys ready for System???" The ensuing hubbub was substantial. So substantial that, a day later, Odadjian was forced to retract: "About my "are u guys ready for System?". I'm not sayin we are back but, if so? U guys ready? SoRry for gettin u guys amped. I'm just seeing" Think he means 'I'm just sayin'', but you get the point. Back to Tankian. The System frontman is set to release Elect The Dead Symphony, a live album recorded with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra that lends a symphonic edge to Tankian's 2007 solo release Elect The Dead. Following that, an album tentatively titled Music Without Borders might be released as early as the summer. So stand down, System fans, Tankian has a busy 2010 ahead. Video Of The Day: AIR, "So Light Is Her Footfall" Posted: 27 Jan 2010 05:50 AM PST A mysterious woman walks through a mysterious house that's mysteriously filled with scantily-clad women, AIR performing, and a tiger, ambling randomly. So... when can we move in? Video after the jump. "So Light Is Her Footfall" is taken from the album Love 2, out now. -- Conrad Doucette |
