Carrie Underwood To Sing Super Bowl National Anthem

Carrie Underwood will take the stage at Miami's Sun Life Stadium a week from Sunday to perform a cover of Francis Scott Key's "The Star Spangled Banner."

The announcement was made yesterday by the NFL (via Reuters). Underwood will be joined on the Super Bowl stage by Queen Latifah, who will perform "America The Beautiful."

As the NFL notes, Underwood joins a long, noteworthy list of artist who have performed the National Anthem at the Super Bowl: Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Whitney Houston, Harry Connick, Jr., Garth Brooks, Natalie Cole, Vanessa Williams, Luther Vandross, Cher, Faith Hill, Mariah Carey, Dixie Chicks, Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson have all stepped up to the mic.

The most memorable is, likely, still Whitney Houston's 1991 performance as the US and its allies were ten days into the Gulf War. Chill-inducing!

Lily Allen And Muse's Matt Bellamy: Maybe An Item

Love-love for Lily Allen and Muse's Matt Bellamy at the Australian Open? Maybe.

According to the NME, multiple rags are reporting the gossip. The Australian Open, the first grand slam of the 2010 tennis season, has been underway in Melbourne for most of the past fortnight and, like Wimbledon and the US Open, it's a magnet for celebs.

Allen and Bellamy seemed to be enjoying themselves at the tourney, betting 'wads of cash' on the outcome of the match they were attending (Bellamy won).

The two hit more than just the (tennis) courts - they were also spotted relaxing on a boat in Sydney Harbour.

So why are they in Australia? Work. Both Lily Allen and Muse, along with many others, are down under to play the Big Day Out, Australia's annual roving festival. The seasons, of course, are reversed in the southern hemisphere - it's summer lovin' for Allen and Bellamy.
