A Chinese activist who spent nearly 90 days camping out at Narita airport after being barred multiple times from going home said Sunday that he was ending his protest after Chinese officials visited him. Feng Zhenghu has been living in Narita International Airport since early November to protest China's refusal to let him return to his homeland from Japan. He angered the Chinese government by writing about the alleged wrongdoings of local authorities and by supporting student protests. A 35-year-old woman was served a fresh arrest warrant Monday on suspicion of killing a male acquaintance last year, police said. You'd expect larger-than-life adventures from a squad of superhuman World War II commandos, and Commandos 3 delivers: Central Berlin, a bombed-out Stalingrad, a train packed with stolen art masterpieces, and the beaches of Normandy are all on the menu. There's nothing pedestrian about such assignments, and all 10 mission locations are as tough as they are memorable. Given that you can't adjust the level of difficulty, getting through even a single mission can require as much patience and judicious use of quicksaves as it does stealth and tactical forethought. Unfortunately, Commandos 3 hasn't gained much ground on its predecessors, and those new to the series may have trouble getting past the interface, the locked 800x600 resolution, or the many moments of frustration that every player is bound to experience. Nevertheless, the game's high level of challenge can lead to some proportionally satisfying victories against all odds.

We were halfway to Coconut Moon, a beach bar owned by Kiyomasa Higa, Japan's godfather of rock, when the taxi radio crackled into action. Coconut Moon was shut, having conceded defeat to Typhoon Lupit. The locals had been praying for rain and they'd got it. Lupit, the first typhoon of the year, arrived in Okinawa about two hours after we did. But while typhoons have scant regard for tourists, our driver had it sussed. "You want awamori [a rice-based spirit]? Dancing?" After three days of lashing rain and cancelled flights and ferries our bedraggled crowd was up for anything. And that's how we ended up in Nakayuki (Little Break), an inconspicuous bar in the village of Onna, taking turns on a traditional three-stringed guitar, eating dragon fruit, necking guava juice laced with awamori and "pushing the happiness" until 3am. A 35-year-old woman was served a fresh arrest warrant Monday on suspicion of killing a male acquaintance last year, police said. Kanae Kijima, who was initially arrested in September on suspicion of defrauding cash from men she had said she would marry, allegedly killed Yoshiyuki Oide, 41, in August in Fujimi, Saitama Prefecture, the police said. Oide was found dead in a car in a parking lot on Aug. 6. Coal briquettes were found inside the car, while traces of a sleeping drug were detected in his body, according to the police. Carbon monoxide poisoning from a charcoal burner in a locked car is a common means of suicide in Japan. (AP)
