Good Lord, someone get Salem a cold shower and a straightjacket.

30 seconds into the first song and we've got a fistfight going down in front.

One or two songs in and we've got a wheelchair coming up over the top of the crowd into the pit. A moment later, its occupant came over.

(I know that was you Karen. I hope you're okay.)

With the exception of a couple of slower songs, we had a nonstop parade of crowd surfers from start to finish.

I'm still trying to figure out the guy who came shooting over the top into the pit with a huge grin on his face, stopped and turned around on his way back out in the crowd and flipped Jerry off for a good 3 or 4 seconds, then came flying back over 10 minutes later. It just seemed a little weird to me. Kind of like saying, "You guys are awesome, and I'm having a great time, but please go *#%! yourself."

Interesting.

And when the mosh pits broke out it was like a giant Oregon-sized testosterone tornado blowing through the middle of the venue.

Basically Salem was just nuts, and it didn't go unnoticed by the band.

There were times when I thought we were about one guitar solo away from our own personal Altamont, but everything ended up staying on the sane side of the fence as far as I could see.

With that being said, I don't think it's a bad idea for some of you Salemites to seek out some counseling.

I respect and appreciate the enthusiasm, but let's be honest, a few of you had that little gleam in your eye that made me want to hide my wallet and dial 911.

I guess a little hint of danger can be a good thing at a rock show. I just hope everyone made it through the night and back to their ward in one piece...
