The Grammys: A Record-Breaking Six for Beyonce. Plus: the Other Winners, and YOUR Winners Posted: 01 Feb 2010 09:38 AM PST Last night was the big night - all the winners (and losers non-winners) at the 2010 Grammy Awards were revealed. So who scored? And how did the Grammy winners compare to YOUR Grammy Polldown winners? Let's take a look.
RECORD OF THE YEAR This one goes to the best finished product. Songwriting, production, and performance all combine to make a tune. Kings Of Leon over Lady Gaga? Bit of an upset, one might say. Especially a Grammy Polldown voter. Grammy Winner: "Use Somebody," Kings Of Leon ALBUM OF THE YEAR Album Of The Year is the marquee award, annually given at the end of the night. This year, Beyonce seemed on track to take her the evening's final honor. Instead, it went to Taylor Swift, cementing her status as, well, one of the three biggest stars in music today (along with co-nominees Beyonce and Lady Gaga). So: Grammy Winner: Fearless, Taylor Swift BEST NEW ARTIST 'New' is, of course, relative: the artists below have been working hard for years. This one was a squeaker in our Polldown (Tings Tings narrowly beating out Keri Hilson); wonder how close the secret Grammy voting was? Grammy Winner: Zac Brown Band Congrats to the Grammy AND Grammy Polldown winners. Want a full list of winners from last night's Grammys? Head here, or read below. See you at the 2011 Grammy Awards! Dave Matthews Band Releasing New EP To Benefit Haiti Posted: 01 Feb 2010 06:57 AM PST The Dave Matthews Band are releasing a new EP to benefit earthquake relief for Haiti.
The Haiti Relief Project EP went on sale at DMB's site over the weekend. All proceeds go to the Bama Works Haiti Relief Fund, an initiative by the Dave Matthews Band aimed at providing long-term support to the Haitian people. The Bama Works Fund has for years supported charitable works in Matthews' home city of Charlottesville, VA. As for the tracklisting, it's all previously unreleased live material: a 2007 "Butterfly," a summer 2003 "Cry Freedom," as well as "Out Of My Hands," "Lying In The Hands Of God," and "Dive In," all taken from 2009 shows. In other DMB news, the band last week announced a massive summer tour that will take them across America. Go see 'em. And go spend $5 for a good cause. -- Conrad Doucette Photo: Rebecca Taylor/MSG Photos For more photos, videos and artist info, head to our Dave Matthews page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
